  1. Microsoft(R) Spreadsheet Solutions from Village Software
  2. --------------------------------------------------------
  3. This file covers the following seven Spreadsheet Solutions:
  4.   Business Planner (PLANNER.XLT)
  5.   Car Lease Advisor (LEASING.XLT)
  6.   Change Request (CRTRACK.XLT)
  7.   Personal Budgeter (BUDGET.XLT)
  8.   Loan Manager (LOAN.XLT)
  9.   Sales Quote (QUOTE.XLT)
  10.   Timecard (TIMECRD.XLT)

  12. These Spreadsheet Solutions work in Microsoft Excel version 5.0 or later for Microsoft Windows(R) operating system or Apple Macintosh(R) operating system.

  14. INSTALLING THE SPREADSHEET SOLUTIONS
  15. ------------------------------------
  16. Note that all installation instructions assume that Microsoft Excel was installed into the default installation directories or folders. If this is not the case, modify the installation procedure appropriately.

  18. Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows 95 and Windows NT
  19. ---------------------------------------------
  20. When downloaded from the Web, the template files should be placed in your PROGRAM FILES\MICROSOFT OFFICE\TEMPLATES\SPREADSHEET SOLUTIONS folder. The Help file (VSTMPLT.HLP) is shared by all the templates and should be placed in the PROGRAM FILES\MICROSOFT OFFICE\OFFICE folder.

If you have Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows 95 and Windows NT, you have three additional Spreadsheet Solutions : Expense Statement, Invoice, and Purchase Order templates. If you did not install these Spreadsheet Solutions templates when you first installed Microsoft Excel 97, run Setup again and choose the Add/Remove option to install them.

  24. Microsoft Excel version 7.0 for Windows 95 and Windows NT(R)

  26. Copy the files to your MSOFFICE/TEMPLATES/SPREADSHEET SOLUTIONS folder. The Help file (VSTMPLT.HLP) is shared by all the templates and must be placed in the MSOFFICE\EXCEL folder.

NOTE: If you have Microsoft Excel version 7.0 for Windows 95 and Windows NT, you do not need to download these Spreadsheet Solutions. Microsoft Excel 7.0 already includes ten Spreadsheet Solutions templates, including more advanced versions of these seven with additional features specific to Microsoft Excel 7.0. If you do not currently have all of these templates available, run Setup for Microsoft Excel 7.0 again and choose the Add/Remove option to install them.

  30. Microsoft Excel version 5.0 for Windows

  32. Copy the files into your EXCEL\XLSTART directory. Then, restart Microsoft Excel to make the templates available in the File New dialog box.

  34. The Help file (VSTMPLT.HLP) is shared by all the templates and must be placed in the EXCEL directory.

  36. Microsoft Excel version 5.0 for the Macintosh
  37. ---------------------------------------------
  38. Copy the files temporarily to a folder on your hard drive (this must be a folder other than the EXCEL STARTUP FOLDER (5)). Then, open each file in Microsoft Excel and save it as a template file:

  40. 1. Open the file in Microsoft Excel.
  41. 2. From the File menu, choose Save As.
  42. 3. In the Save File As Type dropdown box, select Template.
  43. 4. Navigate to your SYSTEM:PREFERENCES:EXCEL STARTUP FOLDER (5) (if the EXCEL STARTUP FOLDER(5) does not exist in your SYSTEM PREFERENCES folder, you should create it); and
  44. 5. Choose Save.

  46. The Help file (MS Excel Solutions Help) is shared by all the templates and must be placed in the MICROSOFT EXCEL folder.

  48. USING THE SPREADSHEET SOLUTIONS
  49. -------------------------------
  50. The products are accessed and used the same way in all versions.

  52. 1. Start Microsoft Excel.
  53. 2. From the File menu, choose New.
  54. 3. Select the desired Spreadsheet Solution from the New dialog box.
  55. In Microsoft Excel version 7.0 or later, click the Spreadsheet Solutions tab to see the list of templates.

  57. Each template has a custom toolbar which includes a Help button. Use this Help button to learn more about how to use each individual template.
